Repost 26 May 2007: I Have It

Having blown wisely invested £140 on enough plants to keep me happy all summer long, it seemed appropriate to share with you my very short post immediately after I made my first £100 garden purchase...

The Wollemi pine, Wollemia nobilis, is here. I drove my very sulky husband out to Wisley, and he read books he wasn't really interested in in the bookshop while I went and collected it. The woman who brought it out to me was terrified of it, and indeed the woman at the cash register was very careful and made sure I had my receipt safe and sound. I guess there's something about blowing £100 on a plant that makes people REALLY careful with it. I just hope some chav doesn't nick it at Christmas and try to shove tinsel on it.

And now, having potted it up and watered it, it's tipping it down with rain. Hope it doesn't get waterlogged. It was a bit droopy and some of the leaves were a little curly, which implies it could do with a bit of a drink.

Speaking of a drink...
