Did Someone Ask For Photos?

I spent an hour or so in the garden last night, having had a rare opportunity to get out like the proverbial bat at 5pm on the dot. And Karma Camellia's flowers are looking great! Here's the little chap himself:

I wonder if he needs a bit of a hand with a stake - I really don't want a creeping camellia! And here's the biggest bloom:

It's set to be wet and miserable, but not going below 5°C at all, and then we might get spring again next week with temperatures up to 15-17°C - almost warm enough to go out without a jacket. So with any luck the garden will perk up a bit. My Pinus mugo is starting to leap into life:

The mahoosive Bramley apple tree is blossoming, and I'm hoping for a cracking harvest. I'm going to borrow a fruit basket so we can get all the apples and divide them out between the tenants:

And the once-dormant Matteuccia struthiopteris is growing really well:

It has a couple of runners on it (you can see one in the bottom left of the photo). So I thought I'd try dividing it. Not having a sharp spade, and with the fern being in a pot I had to make do with a trowel, which was pretty successful. A friend of mine has just moved into a new house and wants to get her garden sorted out. I've offered her the two hydrangeas as it'll be a while before I can get to the garden centre to get some more permanent pots. I put them in a larger pot though as they were quite pot-bound (good root system though). And she doesn't know about the fern yet, but hopefully it'll be well received. We're going to see her tomorrow, and if it's nice up her way we'll be out in the garden.

And finally, a blurry photo of one of my more recent acquisitions - Athyrium niponicum "Ursula's Red", bought in honour of my bestest friend. It's a young plant, and not expected to show its red, black and silver colours until its second year. Yesterday it was put outside (as opposed to inside the growhouse) for the first time.
